Within a poem, words can defy the limitations of their literal meanings.
Over time, words found in the margins of tomes, words found in lost diary entries, or words uttered from person to person can evolve into poetry. The passing of time itself imbues these words with additional meaning, well beyond the scope of what the original author envisioned.
To this day, past words from the fringes of society are constantly rediscovered; they not only resonate with contemporary listeners and readers but are awarded more recognition posthumously. Despite art’s most powerful adversaries, poetry can overcome some of the most oppressive forces of artistic subordination, braving the sands of time.
